Holy Cross Senior Discusses His Decision

Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a detailed look at the individual game and future of division one bound senior Marcus Hopper of Holy Cross high school in Flushing, New York ...

Marcus Hopper, the 6-foot-9, 238-pounder from Holy Cross High School in Flushing, New York, told us he is looking forward to starting his division one college basketball career at Siena soon.

"I just like the fact that they are a winning program in which I want to be apart of," Hopper said.

"Everyone treats each other like their own family up there so it was a nice feeling," he added. "But also when I went up there on my visit I felt comfortable and it was just the right school to go too plus the campus has really good scenery."

Previously, Marcus had also mentioned interest in Hartford and Mississippi Valley State. He also considered at one time George Mason and Quinnipiac.

PREVIOUS RECRUITING PROCESS:

Marcus previously told us that Georgia Southern and Bowling Green were also involved He averaged 14 points per game while grabbing 12 rebounds per contest during the 2010-2011 boy's basketball season

WHAT MARCUS HOPPER SAYS ABOUT HIS INDIVIDUAL GAME PROGRESS:

"I feel I have made improvements in my perimeter game," he said "I've also worked very hard to be a better defensive player "

**Hopper has extended his perimeter range, knocking down 43 percent of this three-point attempts

MARCUS HOPPER'S RECRUITING PROCESS:

In addition to the two schools mentioned above, Robert Morris, New Hampshire, Robert Morris, Holy Cross College, Fairfield, UMBC, Marist, Winthrop and Siena are of interest.

HOLY CROSS HEAD COACH PAUL GILVARY'S THOUGHTS ON MARCUS HOPPER'S BASKETBALL CHANCES:

"Marcus has a nice frame. He works hard He knows what he has to do to become a better player He's a good listener He's smart and picks up things So this is great for him in the future

"He's very coachable, likeable You want him to succeed because he has such a desire to be a better player He'll get there He'll work at making the improvements "
