Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a detailed look at the prep career and future of Anthony Gaffney, a terrific two-sport, student-athlete who competed effectively over the past year in both basketball and football ...

Anthony Gaffney, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound football/basketball prospect from Pennington, New Jersey, should have a solid college career as he is skilled in both basketball and football.

Anthony averaged double figures the past season in basketball and ran off some incredible statistics for Taft as a football player over the past years.

Gaffney will be attending Princeton of the Ivy League this fall and should be an impact player at this level.

Gaffney reached the end zone 19 times this past season for the football team at Taft. He also picked off six passes as a defensive back.

Georgetown, William & Mary, Rutgers, Villanova, and Vanderbilt.

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED:

Anthony competed in the Mary Kline Memorial All Star game at the Pennington School in New Jersey on Memorial Day weekend. Anthony scored 13 points. Talent scout Alex Kline discussed Anthony's skill level as a basketball player.

"Anthony will not end up playing basketball at the next level as football is his first passion, however, he is extremely talented," said Kline. "If there's one thing Gaffney can do well, it's attack the rim constantly."

Kline continued: "At 6-foot-2, his athleticism and bounce is ridiculous. If his jumper were to improve dramatically, he could be a division one player easily."

Gaffney has also decided to attend Taft in Connecticut, a prep school, giving himself another year to make progress in his individual games in both football and basketball.

Previously, Anthony had solid senior seasons in both basketball and football for The Pennington School in New Jersey before he decided to go to prep school. He averaged nearly 19 points a game while grabbing nine rebounds per contest as a basketball player at Pennington during his last year there.
