Lincoln PG Heading South

A talented point guard from Brooklyn has decided to take his skills down South

Eugene Lawrence, a bullish 6-foot 190 pound point guard from Abraham Lincoln High School, in Brooklyn, will take a prep year at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, according to sources close to Lawrence.

Lawrence has received serious interest from a smattering of mid-majors and gotten some sniffs from higher level programs. Among the schools who had taken a hard look at Lawrence were Manhattan, Fordham, Eastern Kentucky, UNC-Greensboro, Boston University, and St. John's. The Red Storm showed late interest but opted not to offer just yet. With ambitions of playing for a high major program, Lawrence is hoping to enhance his stock with a PG year.

Lawrence is a stocky guard with the build of a running back. Strong off the ball, he sees the floor and looks to break down defenders off the dribble.

Eugene played at Brooklyn's Canarsie High School for coach Tommie Allen for three years before transferring in to Lincoln as a senior, where he played alongside Sebastian Telfair and Antonio Pena for coach Dwayne "Tiny" Morton. Lawrence attended last summer's ABCD camp. He competes with the Juice Crew on the AAU circuit.

Eugene is fully qualified academically. He has scored 960 on the SAT. Recommended Stories
