Niko Scott, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound combo guard/ small forward from Christ the King High School in Middle Village, New York, in New York City, didn't have the chance to shoot the ball that much this past Saturday in his team's loss at the IS8 playoffs. But he has certainly helped his stock the past few weeks with solid performances at IS8, in workouts before college coaches, and at the Kingwood Tournament in Houston.
Scott is a lefty with a sweet, soft shooting touch. When given the opportunity, Scott's shot is usually right on or right around the rim. He plays alongside Herbie Allen with the Metro Hawks. Allen is a scoring guard who looks for his shot first so it cut into the number of chances for Scott to shoot. Scott finished with five points, both long-range jumpers while Allen dropped in 26 points.
In Brian Towey's report: Scott has a fairly quick release and decent size to get it off. Scott is also a strong passer who doesn't make many mistakes on the floor. He doesn't have great lateral quickness, or eye-catching athleticism, but he's boasts a reliable stroke and a decent frame along with some savvy.
Scott is receiving strong interest from Hofstra, St. Francis (NY), Quinnipiac, and Columbia, all of whom have extended scholarship offers. Syracuse and St. John's have expressed some mild interest.
Niko will travel with the Metro Hawks this spring and summer. Last summer he travelled with Doc Nicelli's Madison Student-Athletes. Scott carries an 89 GPA in the classroom.
