Westchester Hawks Guard Will Prep

This young man from Mahopac High School in New York will take a prep year at Notre Dame Prep for the 2004-2005 season

Chris Diasparra, a 6-foot-2 195 pound shooting guard from Mahopac High School in Mahopac, New York, will do a post-graduate year in the fall. Diasparra will attend Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where he'll play for coach Bill Barton.

Diasparra is a shooting specialist whose best asset is his long-range jumper. The strong guard is also a savvy player who plays within himself.

Among the schools who expressed an interest in Diasparra included The Citadel, Buffalo, Albany, and Liberty, as well as a number of Division II schools. The Citadel had extended a scholarship offer.

Chris will play for the Westchester Hawks this summer, coached by his father, Phil. The Hawks will compete at the Rumble in the Bronx at Fordham University next weekend. Diasparra will attend the Eastern Invitational session starting July 7th. The Hawks will participate in the Reebok Classic on July 12th and 13th at Farleigh Dickinson University, Charlie Weber at the University of Delaware on July 17th and 18th, the Reebok Tournament in Las Vegas, and the AAU Nationals on July 26th.

Diasparra averaged 19.5 points for Mahopac this season, connecting on 39 three-pointers. He had a high of 36 points against Poughkeepsie High School.

Chris is a full academic qualifier, with an 82 average. He has scored 1000 on the SAT.
