Brian Towey takes a look at some New York City players with many looking to add a prep school year to their resume.

  • James Feldeine, a 6-foot-3, 165 pound wing guard from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx lists St. Peter's, Rider, Fordham, Stony Brook, and Hofstra among those expressing interest in him.

Feldeine is an opportunistic and confident scorer with a good stroke. He'll be back at Hayes this fall, where he plays for longtime coach Tom Murray.

Beyond his senior year, James is considering a prep year to gain strength and improve his academic credentials. He plays with the New Heights/New York Ravens team coached by Artie Green and Chris Matesic. Next up for them is the Super 64 tourney in Las Vegas.

  • Abraham Lincoln's Jamel Jackson, one of the top shooters coming out of NYC out of the class of 2005, is still not settled on where he'll spent his prep year in the fall.

Jackson is playing with Dwayne "Tiny" Morton's Juice All-Stars this month. Next up for them is the Super 64 in Vegas.

One possibility for the 6-foot-2, 165 pound shooting guard is Harmony Prep in Cincinnati. If he attends the newly launched school, Jackson will likely not be the only New Yorker getting on board.

  • 6-foot-9, 300+ pound center Brian Williams from Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx also told us that he'll likely wind up at Harmony.

Williams, dubbed "Big Baby" at the IS8 League, is travelling with Dana Dingle's Long Island Lightning team, and will attend the Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas.

If he can get into better shape, Williams will make a nice Division I prospect. He's got a good set of mitts and has shown that he can knock down the jumper out to about 12 feet.

  • Jackson's Lincoln teammate Kevin White is also looking for a prep school. The 6-foot-0, 165 pound point guard is one of the better pure points coming out of NYC, a table-setter who excels at driving and dishing. He's an excellent passer with very good vision and court awareness. He'll also be with Juice at the Super 64 in Vegas.

  • Another Lincoln guard, 5-foot-10, 160 pound shooting guard/combo guard Nick Leon, out of the class of 2006, lists Rider and St. Francis (NY) among those who have expressed interest.

Leon is a dangerous shooter to the arc. He handled the point for Lincoln early in the season when Kevin White wasn't eligible.

  • The word is that 6-foot-7 Brooklyn native Kiwan Smith of Laurinburg Prep will be playing with Memphis Pump'N'Run out in Vegas. Smith missed the Summer Classic East with the New England Playaz at Fairleigh Dickinson because of age restrictions.
