After speculation that he would be bound for St. Benedict's in Newark, New Jersey, this fall, Rashad Green, the 6-foot-3, 180 pound shooting guard, has decided stay at St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, New York, for his senior season.
"We're staying at St. Mary's," said Danny Green, Sr., Rashad's father. "He's going to stay at St. Mary's and then he'll probably do (a postgraduate year) after that somewhere else."
Initially, the plan for Green was to move to St. Benedict's and reclassify as a member of the class of 2007. Now, he'll return to a program that he and his brother Danny, as well as a very strong supporting cast, helped bring to new heights last season.
Green, a savvy lefthanded wing player, was going to make the move to St. Benedict's after longtime St. Mary's coach Tim Cluess left to take the men's head coaching job at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood, New York, this spring.
Green has received high major interest. He travelled this summer with the Long Island Panthers, and also participated in the ABCD camp.
St. Mary's received some other positive news recently when senior point guard Gil Montalvo decided to stay at the school for his senior season. Rumors had swirled about his possible transfer from the school.
