Daye Kaba Has Big Game Against Panthers

It's been a while since Daye Kaba has been completely healthy. The 6-foot-3, 180 pound combo guard from Our Savior New American in Centereach, New York, and native of Paris, France, has shown flashes of brilliance since he arrived in the States around this time last year, but was slowed this spring and summer with tendinitis in his knees.

If Saturday's performance at the IS8 League in Queens is any indicator, Daye Kaba is on the road to recovery.

The senior torched the New York Panthers for 37 points, including seven three-pointers, in New York Elite's 88-83 loss in pool play. Kaba helped his mates hang tough in the first half with a pair of treys and a 16-footer, and carried his momentum over into the second half, drilling a bushelful of threes, most of the all-net variety.

Kaba shot it with efficiency and showed plenty of range. He also showed the ability to get to the rim. He was the best player on the floor for large stretches of this game, which is no small feat when you're sharing the hardwood with the likes of Paul Harris, Lazar Hayward, Curtis Kelly, and Tyreke Evans.

According to Eric Jaklitsch, one of Kaba's coaches with the New York Elite, USC assistant coach Gib Arnold travelled East to meet with Daye this week. He'll likely set up a visit with the Pac-10 program soon. Kaba also boasts offers from Rhode Island and Old Dominion.

Kaba competed at the ABCD camp this summer and also travelled with New York Elite.
