Andrew Beinert hasn't been subject to the same type of hype as some other New York area prospects, but the 6-foot-2, 160-pound combo guard from Chaminade High School in Mineola, New York, has been quietly carving out a name for himself. The junior poured in 37 points in Chaminade's 81-74 over the Gauchos at IS8 on Tuesday night.
Mike Cavataio, a 6-foot-4 guard of St. Francis Prep, pitched in with 17 points in the win, while Connor Sheehy added 12 points.
Kashif Pratt led the Gauchos with 16 points. Xaverian junior guard Zamal Nixon contributed 15, while 6-foot-5 sophomore forward Curtis Loving of Rice High School added 15, and Port Chester senior Greg Avila tallied 12 points.
In other action, the B-Ballers, composed of players from the defending PSAL city champion John F. Kennedy High School team from the Bronx, upended Pro-Bound 62-54. 6-foot-1, 160 pound senior shooting guard Dwight Hardy led Kennedy with 30 points. Hardy is a strong shooter and pure scorer who will be one of the top guns in the Bronx PSAL this season.
5-foot-10 senior point guard Paul Becote from Thomas Edison High School in Queens led Pro-Bound with 14 points, while Steve Brevitt added 12.
