PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Lamonte Ulmer has seen his stock rise considerably in recent weeks, but the recruiting battle for the 6-6 forward from Connecticut is shaping up as a two-horse race. Ulmer, who scored eight points and snared nine rebounds in Notre Dame's 86-82 victory over South Kent at the 2006 Westchester Elite Winter Hardwood Classic, has two Ocean State programs in mind. "There's nothing new to report," said Notre Dame Head Coach Bill Barton. "He went down to Providence for an unofficial visit." "He likes Rhode Island and Providence," Barton continued. "I think he is going to stay in New England." Ulmer is a high level athlete, and in the win over South Kent, he recorded a few highlight reel finishes and above the rim rebounds. At the end of the day, however, he still needs to hone his ball handling and shooting skills to make the transition to the wing slot at the college level. "He was a little under the weather today," Barton said. "I think that affected his play somewhat." |
