Curtis Kelly scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Rice High School of New York City past Arlington Country Day of Jacksonville, Florida at the Magic 32 Hoop Hall Fifth Annual Invitional held in Springfield, Mass.
Kelly, who signed a letter of intent with Connecticut, is a lefty big man who can dominate when his shot from medium range is falling. Curtis shot 12 of 27 from the floor, playing against another talented unsigned 7-foot-2 big man, Jason Bennett. So it was a big challenge for Kelly. Bennett had seven blocks.
Louisville recruit Edgar Sosa had 12 points and five assists. It was not Sosa's best game. He shot three of 12 from the floor.
Sophomore guard Chris Fouch added 11 points for the winners, including three of four from behind the three-point line.
Arlington Country Day was led by Devon Lamb had 21 points.
