Several players from the New York/New Jersey area were named to the Jordan All American team ...

NEW YORK, NY (February 7, 2006) – Jordan, a division of Nike, Inc., announced today, in a media event featuring Michael Jordan, the 2006 Jordan All-American Team which will participate in the Jordan All-American Classic, Presented by Foot Locker and Boost Mobile, at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, April 22nd.

This year’s event will feature the country’s top high school seniors and be televised nationally once again on ESPN2 and ESPNU. The Jordan All-American Classic will also include a regional game, showcasing the top prep players from the New York City metropolitan area in a City vs. Suburbs showdown. A portion of the proceeds will once again benefit the New York City-based charity The Children’s Aid Society.

This year’s Jordan All-American Team includes Demond Carter (Reserve, LA/Baylor), Sherron Collins (Chicago, IL/Kansas), Duke Crews (Hampton, VA/Tennessee), Kevin Durant (Rockville, MD/Texas), Wayne Ellington (Merion, PA/North Carolina), Paul Harris (Fitchburg, MA/Syracuse), Spencer Hawes (Seattle, WA/Washington), Mike Jones (Hopkins, SC/Syracuse), Curtis Kelly (New York, NY/Connecticut), Jonathan Kreft (Parkland, FL/Florida State), Tywon Lawson (Mouth of Wilson, VA/North Carolina), Vernon Macklin (Chatham, VA/Georgetown), Obi Muonelo (Edmond, OK/Oklahoma State), Jon Scheyer (Northbrook, IL/Duke), DeShawn Sims (Detroit, MI/Michigan), Edgar Sosa (New York, NY/Louisville), DaJuan Summers (Owings Mills, MD/Georgetown), Brandan Wright (Brentwood, TN/North Carolina), Thaddeus Young (Memphis, TN/Georgia Tech), Brian Zoubek (Haddonfield, NJ/Duke).

Greg Oden (Indianapolis, IN/Ohio State) was also selected to the Jordan All-American Team, but is unable to participate in the game. “These All-Americans represent the elite talent in high school basketball,” said Michael Jordan. “The game will once again be an incredible showcase of athleticism — I am looking forward to watching them in person this April at the Garden.”

Recent Jordan All-Americans have included NBA stars Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Amare Stoudemire, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul and Andre Iguodala as well as current NCAA standouts JJ Redick (Duke), Dee Brown (Illinois), Hassan Adams (Arizona), LaMarcus Aldridge (Texas), Daniel Gibson (Texas), Rajon Rondo (Kentucky), Shannon Brown (Michigan State), Rudy Gay (Connecticut) and Justin Gray (Wake Forest).

The event doubleheader will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Regional Game, followed by the All-American Game at 8:00 p.m. The regional rosters will be announced in March.
