It was a much anticipated summer for one of the area's top 2008 prospects. And for now, the recruiting level will remain high as Devin Ebanks, a smooth-moving 6-foot-7 forward continues to improve his individual game.
Ebanks caught the eye of many programs due to his play over the past year. He first shined at Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, New York. Now he polishes his skills at the Patterson School in North Carolina. However, some sources close to Ebanks indicate Devin may switch prep schools. St. Thomas More has been mentioned as a possibility, according to sources.
Devin has the ability to drop down jumpers from the perimeter, making him difficult to defend due to his size and skills.
St. John's, Rutgers, Louisville, Maryland, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, and Purdue remain high on Ebanks' list. Devin has stated consistently he has no clear cut leader.
Ebanks played for the Metro Hawks this summer and had a solid ABCD camp in early July. The Metro Hawks were loaded at the forward position but had some problems winning games. But the Metro Hawks are filled with tremendous talent. If they are able to add some strength at the guard position, they could end up being one of the best AAU teams over the next year.
Brian Towey's Scouting Report: Ebanks is exceptionally agile for a player with such a lengthy, elongated frame. He wields a strong feel for the game with good vision, deceptive change of pace, and court savvy, as well as a nose for the ball.
Mike Sullivan's Scouting Report: Devin is a player with plenty of skills to be a high division one player. He became a better passer too over the past year and this should help in in double team situations. Once he adds some bulk to his frame, the rigors of playing inside more will be less troublesome.
