Scout.com's Mike Sullivan was in Jamaica, New York to watch two semifinal games at IS8 ... here's his story ...

As the lead evaporated for the talented Shooting Stars team, IS8's public address announcer Pete Edwards reminded everyone that it was pressure time in the semifinal game. A driving basket by Marquis Grant had given Team Odom a one-point lead in the fourth quarter after trailing by 18 points in the first half.

But on the next possession, George Washington bound recruit Miles Beatty calmly netted a huge three-pointer to reclaim the lead and settle down his Shooting Stars team.

The Shooting Stars outlasted a gutty performance by Team Odom, 86-79, to advance to the IS8 final against the JR All Stars.

Beatty finished the game with 10 points. However James Southerland hit some key baskets too down the stretch. Southerland scored 16 points for the winners.

The Shooting Stars led 24-14 after the first quarter and 44-26 at the half. They took a 65-56 lead into the fourth quarter before Team Odom eventually caught and surpassed the Shooting Stars in the fourth quarter for a brief moment.

Dexter Strickland hit some key free throws down the stretch for the Shooting Stars too. He finished the game with 18 points. Samardo Samuels, the big man in the low post for the Shooting Stars, added 14 points.

Ryan Pearson had an outstanding game for Team Odom. His driving baskets helped erode the big Shooting Stars lead. He scored 31 points.

Team Odom was playing without floor general Malik Boothe, who was hobbled with an ankle injury he suffered in Saturday's quarterfinal game.
