A look at the individual game of Kemba Walker of Rice High School in New York City ...

PROFILE: Kemba Walker

HEIGHT: 6-foot

WEIGHT: 160 Pounds

WHAT HIS HIGH SCHOOL COACH MAURICE HICKS IS SAYING: "He's proven that he's among the elite players at his position in the class. As he's played against these quality, elite players, people have noticed."

COLLEGES STARTING TO SHOW INTEREST: According to Hicks: "Rutgers inquired, Providence asked about him. Right now, Memphis- they offered him. They feel that Derrick Rose is a one year guy, and they want to bring him in next year."

WALKER'S THOUGHTS ON HIS RECRUITING: According to Walker, St. John's had already extended a scholarship offer, while others had previously expressed interest. "Memphis, Cincinnati, Miami, St. John's. ... there are others," said Walker. "I haven't really thought about (recruiting) yet."

BRIAN TOWEY'S VIEW: It was viewed as a breakout weekend (at Baruch and Hunter College for Big Apple High School Invitational) for some, or at the least a vindication of a player whose value to his team isn't always easy to quantify. But in reality, despite the high-profile opponents, it was simply another day on the job, with Walker bringing his trademark chuztpa and telltale traits: the grunting intensity, the ever-running motor, and a defensive activity and awareness that render him seemingly everywhere at once.

MIKE SULLIVAN'S VIEW: Kemba Walker proved a weekend ago he is one of the best players in the country. He handled himself against two elite players from the 2007 class in Rose and Flynn. Walker can speed past defenders as well as defend effectively and smartly. He is a player that makes others better too because of his high level of intensity. The Gauchos Billy Lovett has been shouting plenty of praise for Walker over the past year. Lovett was right on the money about Walker's game.

CONCLUSION: Kemba Walker is a high division one prospect from the 2008 class. The school that lands him will solidify one of the backcourt positions defensively too. Walker is a hard-nosed, hard-working guard who plays each possession like its his last. He is an impact player.
