Reporter Mike Sullivan has story on James Southerland making a decision ...

According to a published report in the Times-Ledger of Queens, New York, 6-foot-6 forward James Southerland has given a commitment to Syracuse University.

There are plenty of high division one programs already scouting Southerland hard. Syracuse University recently made a stop to watch Southerland play.

Southerland, who competes for Cardozo High School in Bayside, New York, had previous interest from Virginia Tech, Seton Hall, Florida, St. John's and Louisville.

Syracuse had worked Southerland hard too in the past year, taking a couple of trips into Queens to show their love for the small forward with solid perimeter skills.

A 2008 prospect, Southerland has ample time to polish not only his individual game but also increase his strength.
