Josh Elbaum, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound backcourt player from St. John The Baptist High School in West Islip, New York, is a player to watch over the next couple of years in the New York area.
The reasons are pretty simple -- his size and his basketball court intelligence. According to St. John The Baptist assistant coach Jim Plate, the program based on Long Island is pretty excited about having Elbaum's basketball skills.
"He is an excellent student with very good PSAT scores," said Plate. "He lives in Wheatley Heights (on Long Island) and knows the game as well as any young player I have ever seen."
It's early in the recruiting process for Elbaum but Plate said there has been mail from a few schools. "Davidson, Rutgers, and Niagara have sent letters," Plate said.
The next 12 months will determine what level of interest in Elbaum. "He will be working on becoming a scoring force this year," Plate concluded when discussing Josh's individual game.
