SOUTH JAMAICA, NEW YORK -- Mike Rosario knocked down 15 points, including one three-pointer, to help lead the Playaz Seniors team to a 90-68 win over Team Jackson, in the first game of the morning at IS8.
Rosario, a Rutgers commitment, was strong with the ball and smart in transition all game long. He found himself on the bench for much needed rest as the Playaz Seniors team had one more game to play today at IS8 in the Fall League. Mike played about three quarters in the early morning game which started around 9:20 AM.
But Rosario had plenty of help. Chris Gaston was very impressive along the front line. His agility and being able to find open spaces all over the court helped him score 25 points. More on Gaston later on this website.
The Playaz led 20-8 after the first quarter, 42-21 at the half and 65-40 heading into the fourth quarter. Head coach Jimmy Salmon used his entire squad and gave players like Ian Chiles plenty of playing time in the second half.
By the time Rosario found a comfortable place next to Salmon on the bench, the ballgame was over. Rosario will be a solid player for Fred Hill's basketball program. He was aggressive in taking the ball to the basket today and made sure he distributed the ball when he was surrounded by many defenders.
But give credit to the Jackson squad. They tried to rally hard in the fourth quarter, made some decent runs, but the depth of Salmon's team was too strong today.
Sasta Clarida, a nice guard from Jackson, scored 16 points in defeat.
