Kemba Dynamic In Gauchos' Playoff Victory

Kemba Walker, the terrific 2008 guard prospect, put on a terrific show today in a playoff victory at IS8 in South Jamaica, New York. The Connecticut guard prospect slipped and dribbled past defenders all game long, helping the New York City Gauchos to a 97-90 victory over Anessa Sports. The victory propelled the Gauchos into the quarterfinal playoff round scheduled for next weekend at IS8.

Walker scored 35 points, including a pair of three-pointers. But he produced most of his points on swift moves to the basket, sliding and darting past multiple defenders on several occasions.

The Gauchos led 30-22 after the first quarter and 52-46 at the half. Walker had tallied 16 first half points to keep his team ahead. The lead stayed at six points, 72-66, heading into the final quarter. Walker scored 10 points in the third to help his team maintain the advantage.

Anessa Sports presented the Gauchos with some decent matchups too. The Gauchos were top heavy in the backcourt. Not only did it feature a high major recruit in Walker, but Jordan Theodore, Chris Fouch, and Russell Smith also had some playing time in the guard position.

But the best player on the court today was Walker, who kept his composure under some late game stress from Anessa Sports.

Lamount Samuell had 19 points while Dion Waiters chipped in with 17 points for Anessa Sports. The quickness of the Gauchos was a tad bit better but Anessa Sports certainly kept pace with the tough offensive skills of the Gauchos' backcourt players.

Theodore helped out the winners with 22 points while Durand Scott added 19 points.
