The terrific coaching combination of Bob Oliva and Artie Cox has paid handsome results for the many players in the New York area that have played for both Christ The King High School in Middle Village, New York and the outstanding AAU program, Team Odom.
Ryan Pearson, a 6-foot-6 gifted forward from Christ The King High School and the Team Odom AAU program is the latest example in why Oliva and Cox have done such a terrific job.
Pearson, a lefty who has the ability to slip between defenders for drives to the basket, had already given a commitment to George Mason.
Besides George Mason, Massachusetts, Manhattan, Iona, and Stony Brook had shown some recruiting interest too. Pearson is a player that can make in impact at such a program like George Mason. Below are thoughts from Mike Sullivan and Frank Mantesta on Pearson's individual game:
Ryan's strengths in his individul game are the ability to score by using his long arms, his lefty shot, and his agility.
His mid-range game is getting better as is his handle.
Pearson will need to add more muscle to his upper body to become a consistent score. But he has no fear in taking the ball to the basket against the bigger and more heavier bodies.
