OSNA Forward Off To Solid Start In 2007-2008 Premium Story

Reporter Mike Sullivan has the story on Leek Leek ...

Leek Leek, a 6-foot-5 1/2 forward from Our Savior New American in Centereach, New York, is an exciting athlete who has improved over the past year while playing for the Pioneers as well as the New York Elite AAU program.

At 193 pounds, Leek still has room to add some muscle to his bouncy frame. Leek currently plays under head coach Rev. Ron Stelzer while competing for Eric Jaklitsch and Chris Phillips and the New York Elite program. Jaklitsch is also an assistant coach at OSNA.

"He looks sharp so far this season," Jaklitsch said. "He is averaging 17 points, eight rebounds and three blocks a game."

A member of the 2009 class, Leek has two full seasons to improve his overall game. He is a terrific athlete who can play above the rim and will battle much bigger bodies inside for loose balls.

The level of interest in Leek's skills is high right now. Obviously, how he competes this season will determine the seriousness of certain schools. Among the programs that have expressed early interest include St. John's University, DePaul, Syracuse, Georgetown and Pittsburgh.
