Rice Prospect Has High D-1 Schools Involved

Reporter Frank Mantesta has the story on Rice prospect Durand Scott ...

The Rice high School players no their roles. If you work hard on your game as a team your own personal recognition will come. It has been like that forever for the very successful program at Rice.

Durand Scott, the 6-foot-4 guard understands. Blessed with enormous talent he is able to show off his high skill level on a nightly basis. Colleges from all over the country have inquired about him.

Earlier reports have been schools such as Connecticut, Seton Hall, Miami, Memphis, Xavier, Rutgers, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, St. John's, West Virginia, and Providence have offered.

Durand told me on Tuesday night at Holy Cross after he scored 16 points in a win that Pittsburgh and Wake Forest have also joined his list.

Durand told us the college coaches feel he is an all around player. He does many things well. He can finish in traffic and on the break. Can fill it up from the outside.

Scott is very strong and has a high basketball IQ too. College coaches would like to see him be more aggressive in taking over games but this is difficult since Rice is stacked with talented senior leadership.

With UCONN recruit Kemba Walker and Drexel recruit Chris Fouch and coach Maurice Hicks preaching team first, Durand waits his turn. But looking at his game there is no doubt he can take games over whenever he wants.
