There are very few high school players left in this year's class. However, Gerardo Suero, a 6-foot-3 1/2, 186-pound guard from Our Savior New American in Centereach, New York, is certainly worth a look by division one programs.
Suero, who hails from the Dominican Republic, has a knack of scoring points in traffic and around the basket. Suero averaged over 30 points a game this past season for the Pioneers of Our Savior New American. He consistently made himself an offensive threat, no matter how high the level of competition was.
Gerardo showed he was among the best seniors available in the New York City area. Currently, sources tell us that St. John's and Pittsburgh are among the top schools that have been expressing interest in recruiting him.
Sources indicate St. John's is trying to land a couple of players to make the backcourt more secure for next season. And Pittsburgh has been involved and like St. John's, has seen Suero play a few times.
There's a lot to like about Suero's game. He's smooth but more importantly, he can produces a bunch of points.
