STRENGTHS: Jio had a terrific senior season for St. Anthony's High School. Since following him two years ago, Fontan has impressed all the reporters here at Scout.com's High School New York website. He works hard at both ends and does a smart job in getting his teammates involved in the offense.
Jio has a good burst of energy on his first step, allowing him to locate the sharpshooters along the perimeter for open jumpers. He will be an impact player for Fordham too and comes from a program that features perhaps the greatest high school coach/teacher of all time in Bobby Hurley, Sr.
Kudos must be given to the Fordham coaching staff for landing this commitment. Yes, he isn't a "big name." However, he is "a big time player" who will help make his teammates better. And it helps to land a prospect that comes from a program that only believes in winning and fundamentals.
PREVIOUS EVALUATION: Jiovanny is a strong guard who can get to basket and finish. He is also an excellent passer on drive for open three or dump down to big man for easy dunk. Fontan is very strong with the ball and good in traffic.
As his perimeter game improves, he is going to be a terrific addition for the Fordham basketball program.
