Former Great NYC Guard Will Coach This Summer

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a story on an NBA player coaching in the summer ...

New York Panthers' program director Gary Charles was excited to announce this week that former great New York City guard Rafer Alston will be part of his summer.

"Rafer Alston is going to coach our 16 and under Panthers' team this summer," said Charles, who now spends most of his time organizing his program rather than coaching.

Alston played only a few games with Ron Naclerio at Cardozo High School in Bayside, New York due to academic difficulties. But he has remained loyal to Naclerio and Cardozo.

He competed with the Houston Rockets this past season in the NBA. "It's going to be great to have him coaching for us," said Charles. "The kids will learn a lot." Recommended Stories
