Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a free look at the individual game of Harold Spears and also discusses his abilities in the classroom ...

NJABC head coach Matt Pauls is a breath of fresh air when discussing the game of basketball. His team achieved a great deal of success during the summer while coaching the 16 and under team.

However, Pauls prefers to spend a great deal of his valuable time discussing the academic skills of his team as well. He spoke very highly recently of Harold Spears, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound all around player.

Spears, a current junior and member of the 2010 class, gave us the impression he has the ability to knock down shots from anywhere on the court. And he's not afraid to take the big shot late in the game.

Spears attends The Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey, and because of his success on the court and in the classroom, he has a nice range of schools recruiting him early.

"Princeton, Penn, Cornell, James Madison, Drexel, and Bucknell are all interested," said Pauls. "He has the best of both worlds being academically gifted."

Spears possesses a terrific 3.8 grade point average. "He could end up in the Ivy or Patriot League," said Pauls. Besides basketball, Spears has an interest in football since he can run the 40 in 4.6 seconds. He will play football for the first time this Fall. We'll keep you updated on his progress here on this website.
