2010 Point Guard Prospect Worth Watching

Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a free look at the individual game of Tyreek Duren, who is hoping to help his team win a key playoff game today ... Duren has some early division one interest in his skill level ...

Tyreek Duren, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound lead guard from St. John Neumann High School in Philadelphia, Penn., has already helped his team to the City Catholic League title.

Duren's team has won 24 of 26 games thus far this season. His team plays in a playoff game today. We'll update over the weekend how Tyreek and his team did.

Duren has averaged 13 points and seven assists in his point guard role. "I feel I can either take the ball to the basket and score when my team needs it or penetrate, draw the defense to me, and find a teammate for a better shot," he said.

SOME AREAS TYREEK DUREN WOULD LIKE TO IMPROVE:

"...my jumper has gotten much better this year percentage wise. But I would like to also work on my pullup jumper. I haven't done that yet. So I want to focus on improving that area over the next year."

Duren said he has been averaging A's and B's in the first three years of high school. "I want to make it easier on myself to get a college scholarship," he said.

TYREEK DUREN'S LIST OF CURRENT SCHOOLS:

Providence, Houston, Temple, Mount Saint Mary's, Robert Morris, and Miami of Florida.

He has visited unofficially Temple and Mount Saint Mary's. "I liked the campuses and enjoyed my visits to both schools," said Duren. "I hope to take some more visits during the summer."
