, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound forward and senior at Rice (N.Y.) High School, has seen his recruiting list expand. Stukes, who has a solid senior season for the highly regarded high school basketball team from Manhattan, has Long Island University involved in his recruiting process.
As previously reported, James will take a postgraduate year in the fall.
"I'm going to go prep," said Stukes. "I'm going to South Kent with Russell Smith. ... I'm taking a prep year to boost (my grades) and to work on my guard skills."
Stukes and Smith, of Archbishop Molloy High School, are AAU teammates with the New York Gauchos.
Stukes, a ruggedly built and versatile forward, had previously made a verbal commitment to Robert Morris.
"I actually de-committed from Robert Morris twice," said Stukes. "The first time was because of family reasons and the second because of prep (school). I still may go there for 2010, but it's not a (final) decision; I'm working on it. I'm open right now."
Stukes said that along with Long Island University and Robert Morris, Marist, Iona, and Manhattan are also expressing serious interest in his skill level.
