Russell Smith, an offensively gifted guard prospect from South Kent School in the state of Connecticut, said his knee is healing properly.

"I'm feeling much better now," he said. "I'm just getting myself ready to head to the 'Ville."

The Ville being Louisville of the Big East Conference. Smith is signed with Rick Pitino's program. "It's a great opportunity," he said. "I've very excited. I'll do whatever the Coach P needs me to do."

"I'm ready now," Smith added. "Now I play unlimited in New York all the time. I have experience playing against grown men so it will make the transition easier."

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED:

"I've also tried to strengthen my game too," said Smith who is around 155-157 pounds, adding a little bit over 10 pounds from a year ago.

Smith has always been a fierce guard who is not afraid to challenge bodies so much stronger than his near the rim.

The former Archbishop Molloy High School star (Briarwood, NY) has always possessed a sneaky quickness and guile while scoring points against the big bodies in the paint.

Russell told us he plans on heading down to Louisville next month.

PREVIOUS EVALUATION OF RUSS SMITH'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

A superlative scorer around the rim, Smith has a knack for finishing tough drives. He is capable of taking over games with his scoring, and does the majority of his damage within 12 feet of the hoop. He is able to break down defenders with his dribble and get into the lane for floaters or runners.
