Profile: Kashif Pratt
Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 172-pounds
School: Rice High School
Pratt is considered one of the better defensive players on the high school level. Kashif competed this past summer with Paul Brown's New York City Gauchos program. The Gauchos are considered one of the best AAU programs and are coached by Keith and Kevin Smith.
Mo Hicks is Pratt's high school coach. So Kashif has the benefit of playing for not only a great AAU program but also a traditionally talent rich New York City high school team.
Pratt has a passion for defending. He will need to work on being quicker with his feet. At the Showcase at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, Pratt also had some good offensive games.
Kashif was upended in one game at the AAu Nationals (the event followed the Showcase inside the Milk House at the Wide World of Sports complex. He seemed shaken up and landed hard on his side. But the gritty Pratt returned to the game to help his team win the contest.
So we know Pratt can defend and is a tough customer in a physical game. He can also shoot if from the perimeter. As he gets stronger he's likely to benefit more when Pratt takes the rock to the basket.
At summer's close, he had interest from Fordham, Iona, Marist, Albany as well as some mild interest from Pittsburgh and West Virginia.
Pratt has always been an active player, making him an attractive recruit.
