You never quite know who will duck into the IS8 Middle School to get a taste of New York City basketball. David Gonzalvez, a 6-foot-4, 190 pound swingman from Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, suited up for the Jamaica Youth Organization team for the playoffs on Saturday.

David Gonzalvez, a sturdily built wing player and capable shooter, attended Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, before heading north to Bill Barton's program to do a post-graduate year. Gonzalvez has attracted the interest of a diverse mix of schools.

"I'm being recruited by James Madison, Virginia Commonwealth, West Virginia, Winthrop, Mercer, Jacksonville, Murray State, and St. Bonaventure," said Gonzalvez. "All of the schools have offered except for Murray State and St. Bonaventure."

Gonzalvez doesn't have any visits lined up at the moment.

"I can't take any visits until I get back up to school," said Gonzalvez, referring to Notre Dame's recent break. "I'm not even sure where I'm going to go."

David is looking to make a spring decision.

"I'm going to sign late," said Gonzalvez. "Probably playing time will be something I'll look for."
