First year head coach Fran McCaffery has picked up his second commitment for Siena's class of 2006.

With the early signing period fast approaching, Siena secured its second fall commitment this weekend. Alex Franklin, a 6-foot-6, 210 pound small forward from Central Catholic High School in Reading, Pennsylvania, toured the school's Loudonville, New York, campus on an official visit this past weekend, and decided that the program was the right fit for him.

"I committed this weekend," said Franklin. "The campus was nice, the players were great and the coaches were great."

Franklin was also recruited by La Salle and SMU. The trip to Siena was his first official visit. The opportunity to help restore the program to its past glory was something that appealed to him.

"The coaches are rebuilding," said Franklin. "They're going through a rebuilding phase, and I wanted to be a part of that. They think I can contribute right away and play either forward spot."

Alex played with Lancaster Elite and the Donyell Marshall Foundation on the AAU trail this summer, and he participated in sessions of the Eastern Invitational Camp and the Five Star Camp. He feels that his ability to manufacture buckets is one of his biggest strengths.

"(I'm good at) creating for myself and others," said Franklin. "I've been working on my shooting and ballhandling a lot."

Franklin joins 6-foot-7 Edwin Ubiles from St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Connecticut, as Siena commits in the class of 2006.
