One of the country's more underrated guards may be having second thoughts about keeping his commitment to Temple. Luis Guzman, a 6-foot-3 combo guard from Paramus Catholic High School in New Jersey who committed to Temple last Fall, is now thinking about getting his release from his commitment.
"We talk everyday," said his AAU coach, Jimmy Salmon of the Playaz Club of New Jersey. "I'm concerned."
Salmon has a right to be concerned. Temple head coach John Chaney stepped down recently and the Owls are now looking to hire another coach.
Will Guzman keep his commitment to Temple? "I don't know," Salmon said. "Temple helped out so many kids who were having academic difficulties. They did a great job in relating to our community. It will depend on who they hire. Whether this new coach can identify with all different communities."
Before he committed to Temple, Luis said he was also considering Dayton, UTEP, and Marquette.
"It's going to be important that the next coach can relate to the high school coaches and AAU coaches," Salmon said. "Hopefully they hire someone who can continue to the great tradition at Temple in helping underpriviledged kids too."
